I’m a pediatrician and mom of three beautiful children with a passion for writing and story-telling. So much of what we do as primary care pediatricians is to listen to people sharing their stories, which leads us down the path of workup, diagnosis, and ultimately to healing. A blog seemed like a natural fit for me to share insights gathered over my years of medical practice and motherhood.
My favorite part of being a pediatrician is supporting families along the path to greater connection with one another. I find great fulfillment in helping parents and children find their way together. I am passionate about creating a better, safer world for our children. Over the years, I have cared for thousands of children and their families and have learned an enormous amount from these interactions. It is my wish to share some of what I have learned with all of you through this site.
I grew up in Decatur, Illinois with my big sister and surrounded by loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I attended the University of Illinois in Champaign/ Urbana, where I met my now-husband, Mike, and graduated with a degree in biology/ pre-medicine. I attended Southern Illinois University School of Medicine for medical school and Indiana University for my pediatrics residency. After completing my residency program, I served as chief resident, during which time I worked closely with area schools on bullying prevention. I then worked as a pediatric hospitalist for IU/ Riley and eventually settled into my calling in primary care. I currently practice medicine for Community Physician Network in Fishers, IN.
I hope this blog inspires you to move forward with your own families with compassion, authenticity, and humor. Feel free to leave a comment or follow me on social media!
